Nelvin Chee was born and raised on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Nelvin is considered to be one of the most skilled Native American inlay artists.
All stones are held, cut and sanded by hand, using only the simplest tools and equipment. It is hard to imagine how he cuts some of the stones into such thin and tiny pieces – only holding them to the sander with his finger-tips.
He never makes the same designs twice.
